The Warplanes Cross 1 (Holy War), 60" x 48" x 12", 2004. This Piece is a study for a large work yet to be commenced. It is part of a larger body of work being developed called Stations of the Cross. This body of work consists of both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works. All pieces use the Warplanes Cross as a template to provide a framework for content drawn from what the artist considers "religious" behaviors and forms in modern society. Warfare, pornography, religious iconography, conspicuous consumption, power politics are distilled and mixed to reflect the post-modern fracturing and intermixing of previously seperate actions to reveal the inherant violence that connect these social phenomena. |
